Different when it is time to shine, identical when it is time to share the pain. That is only Black when it's convenient, and tonight we call it exactly what it is. This is what the diaspora debate keeps exposing: certain voices attach themselves to Black American culture for the cool points, the drama, and the platform, then separate themselves from that same culture whenever they want to look superior to it. The Angryman holds one standard for everybody — that is real Black accountability, applied the same way no matter whose feelings get hurt. Godfrey and Wyclef Jean opened a door, and we are walking all the way through it: what FBA actually means, what tethers actually means, why trauma bonding is not kinship, and why respect for Black American culture is the price of admission to Black American platforms.
